La Canada La Crescenta-AM
Serving the Children of the World

SPECIAL PROGRAMS Food Distribution. Each day of the year, members pick up extra deli, bakery and dairy products from local groceries and fast food outlets and deliver to homeless and needy families. Among the agencies we serve are: AIDS Service Center, Church in the Park, Door of Hope, Elizabeth House, Foothill Unity Center, Friends in Deed, and Union Station in Pasadena, and Brothers Helpers, Holy Cross Center, Las Familias del Pueblo and St. Francis Center in Los Angeles.

Gardening. We have installed and maintain a demonstration kitchen garden at Lanterman House, a California State Historic House in La Cañada. Produce from the garden goes to our food distribution program.
Additionally, we maintain the garden at the northwest corner of the Angeles Crest – 210 Freeway intersection.

Recycling. We actively recycle Aluminum Can Pull Tabs for medical uses, Cell Phones for women’s shelters, Printer Cartridges, Soup and Box Top Labels for Schools and Travel Cosmetics for Kiwanis Family House.

Reforestation. Along with our key club members, we are engaged in a four-year program to replant trees lost in the devastating 2009 Station Fire in the Angeles National Forest.

Kiwanis Programs.  We actively support Kiwanis International Programs, including The ELIMINATE (Maternal Neo-natal Tetanus eradication worldwide) and Cal-Nev-Ha District Project  Pediatric Trauma Prevention in cooperation with local schools, pediatricians, and fire and police personnel.
